Thanks Hax. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I think adding the file download field will be the better option. Bear with me. I’m not a plugin developer, though I’m capable of hacking an existing plugin to make it do some things differently.
Would you mind helping me through this a little more. Mainly pointing me toward which files will need updating? I found admin/download.php, which I assume is where I’d need to make a change so the download would read from the new custom URL. I also found _inc/gallery.php which looks like where I add the custom file download field.
Am I right about those 2 files and what others, if any, might I need to change? I hope I’m not asking too much.

Thanks Hax. I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be possible. I have another cart plugin that can handle the PDF download, but since were using Image Store for lots of images across the site, I’d hoped we could use it here too.
Would you mind pointing me to what modifications I could make to get this to work, just in case my client insists we use the same cart for everything?
By the way Image Store is a great plugin. It solved so many problems and I know I’ll be using it again. If you do plan on adding an ability to download things other than images, I would think giving people a way to add a custom URL for the download would be a good approach. That way we could upload an image to the gallery and on purchase point customers to other media.
